Marks & Spencer (M&S) Food has debuted its first-ever summer dessert sandwich, marking a significant step in food innovation.

This limited-edition Red Diamond Strawberry & Creme Sandwich features British Red Diamond Strawberries, touted by M&S as “the UK’s sweetest and juiciest strawberries.” It is complemented by light whipped cream cheese nestled between fluffy sweetened bread.

Notably, exclusive Red Diamond strawberries are cultivated specifically for M&S by select trusted farmers, ensuring the highest quality.

M&S stated that this innovative summer dessert sandwich draws inspiration from Japanese sweet sandos, which have gained popularity in London’s trendiest Japanese patisseries.

Designed for various occasions, the sandwiches are perfect for alfresco lunches, afternoon tea at home, summer picnics, and quick sweet snacks during breaks. They are conveniently stocked next to M&S’s regular sandwich offerings.

Additionally, M&S has introduced a limited-edition Collection Red Diamond Strawberry Lemonade, part of its premium Collection range.

Historically, M&S Food has led the sandwich sector, having first sold freshly made sandwiches in the 1920s. Furthermore, it revolutionized food in the UK by introducing the first pre-packed sandwich to the High Street in the 1980s.

To date, M&S Food has sold an impressive four billion sandwiches, underscoring its commitment to quality and innovation in food manufacturing.

Continuing its legacy, M&S recently adopted new paper packaging for its garlic bread baguette packs. This change is expected to eliminate 5.5 million units of plastic from M&S operations annually.

Moreover, earlier this year, Scottish crisp manufacturer Taylors Snacks collaborated with M&S to launch ‘Extreme Ridge’ crisps across 900 stores, creating 30 new jobs in the process.
