The funding round that concluded in December 2024 attracted significant investment from notable players, including the US-based InvestBev and Jean-Sebastien Robicquet of the French beverage company Maison Villevert.
Since its inception in May 2023, Renais gin has expanded its reach to 11 countries, with distribution agreements secured in an additional 22 locations.
Chief Executive Alex Watson, who co-founded Renais alongside his sister, remarked that 2024 has been an exhilarating year for the brand, referring to the fundraising success as a “key milestone.”
“The raise will support expansion in the US following our successful California and New York launch, as well as our ongoing commitment to content and community engagement,” Watson stated.
“As consumers increasingly prefer premium products and aim to drink less but better, we are uniquely positioned within the gin market to attract their interest and share our story of heritage, craftsmanship, and provenance. Additionally, we are excited to have leading drinks experts as investors—their experience will be invaluable in helping Renais reach its full potential.”
This investment will enable Renais to further its international expansion and bolster its growth within the US, focusing on distribution to new states and a revitalized marketing campaign.
Looking ahead, Renais plans to launch in France, Spain, Dubai, and Canada in 2025.
“We are thrilled to support Renais Gin in its journey to become a globally recognized brand,” commented Brian Rosen, general partner at InvestBev.
“The premium gin category continues to show remarkable potential, and Renais Gin’s quality and sustainability credentials align perfectly with our strategic investment focus. We believe our capital, combined with our extensive industry expertise and network, will significantly enhance Renais Gin’s ability to engage new consumers and enter fresh markets.”
In a move to strengthen its leadership team, Renais has appointed former Laithwaites Group CFO Jimmy Weir to its board, joining esteemed industry veterans such as ex-Diageo European boss Andrew Morgan and former Pernod Ricard global marketing director Alex Staartjes
