Danone Reports Robust Growth in Asia for H1 2025

In the first half of 2025, Asia has outperformed all other regions for Danone, showcasing remarkable growth in volume and sales, as indicated by the French food and drink giant’s recent financial report.

With like-for-like sales surging by 11.3% and volume/mix increasing by an impressive 11.9%, the region’s performance has been driven largely by double-digit gains in Specialized Nutrition, as well as sustained momentum in Waters and Dairy, especially in Japan.

Substantial increases in China, North Asia, and Oceania occurred across all of Danone’s core business areas, with Specialized Nutrition sales climbing 12.9%, essential dairy and plant-based products (EDP) rising 8.5%, and Waters up by 7.7%.

“In a volatile and uncertain environment, we are consistently doubling down on our fundamentals, further fuelling our winning platforms such as high protein, medical nutrition, Alpro, and Aptamil, while moving forward with this next chapter of our Renew Danone strategy,” stated CEO Antoine de Saint-Affrique.

“We started actively complementing our portfolio, further investing in medical nutrition, acquiring Kate Farms in the US, and in next-generation biotics through The Akkermansia Company.”

Danone’s US and LATAM Sales

In the US and Latin America, while sales and volumes have increased, actual revenues in euros decreased in both markets due to currency exchange fluctuations and changes in business scope.

North America is witnessing signs of recovery in the coffee creamers sector, alongside strong performance in High Protein and Specialized Nutrition.

The company plans to replicate the success of brands like Alpro from Europe in the US to “reignite plant-based in the US”.

Notably, water sales in North America faced challenges in Q2, dipping by 4.2%, although sales experienced overall growth of 3.3% during the first half of the year.

Conversely, in LATAM, water sales declined by 6.2% in Q2 and by 3.3% in H1.

Danone’s Europe Sales

Strong growth in the region was primarily fueled by Specialized Nutrition products such as Aptamil and new EDP launches, including High Protein and drinkable yogurt.

Europe remains stable, with like-for-like sales increasing by 2.2% and volumes rising by 2.4%, marking the zone’s seventh consecutive quarter of volume growth, driven by dairy and functional brands like High Protein, Skyr, and Kefir.

Owing to robust performance, Danone’s 2025 financial outlook remains consistent with expectations.

Moving forward, Danone aims to drive growth in new sectors through science-backed innovation, accelerate sales in medical channels, and establish strong marketing platforms in emerging sectors.

The company has also expressed a commitment to leveraging recent acquisitions, including Kate Farms and The Akkermansia Company, by focusing on science-based health claims as key business growth initiatives.
