Wrexham Lager has recently established a strategic partnership with Anzac Drinks, a notable drinks wholesaler. This collaboration enables the Welsh brand to market its acclaimed ‘Wrexham Lager’ and ‘Wrexham Export’ beers in 440ml cans across both on-trade and off-trade channels.

This expansion into Northern Ireland marks a significant milestone, following Wrexham Lager’s successful entry into markets in Hungary, the US, Australia, and Scandinavia over the preceding year.

“Expanding into Northern Ireland is another exciting achievement for the Wrexham Lager Beer Co, and our new partnership with Anzac Drinks opens the door to a vibrant new market for us to build momentum in,” stated CEO James Wright.

“It’s another great opportunity to introduce our award-winning lagers to drinkers who value quality, craftsmanship, and authenticity.”

“Our expansion into Northern Ireland is the first of many exciting developments we have in the pipeline for 2025.”

Founded in 1882, Wrexham Lager prides itself on being the oldest lager brand in the UK.

In addition to exploring new markets, actors Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds became co-owners of the company last year, joining forces with minority investors, the Allyn family. They now co-own Wrexham Lager alongside the Roberts family, who have been at the helm since 2011.

Moreover, McElhenney and Reynolds serve as majority owners of Wrexham AFC, the local football club that inspired the documentary ‘Welcome to Wrexham’.

When they made their investment in October 2024, they commented: “As co-chairs of Wrexham AFC we have learned a lot.

“The connection between club and community, the intricacies of the offsides rule and the occasional need for beer – especially after finance meetings. Wrexham Lager has a 140-year-old recipe and a storied history and we’re excited to help write its next chapter.”
