Squeaky Bean Launches Two Innovative Plant-Based Products

Squeaky Bean introduces two new plant-based firsts

Squeaky Bean, renowned for its popular meat alternatives, is excited to introduce two market-first innovations: ready-to-eat Tofu Slices and a Super Grain & Vegetable Burger crafted with fermented rye.

Launching in stores for Veganuary, these products respond directly to the rising consumer demand for healthier and cleaner label plant-based foods.

Squeaky Bean’s Ready to Eat Red Pepper & Tomato Tofu Slices and Spinach & Basil Tofu Slices are now available at Sainsbury’s (80g, RRP £2.50). Meanwhile, Squeaky Bean’s Super Grain & Vegetable Burger is available at Waitrose (2 x 100g, RRP £3.50).

The debut of ready-to-eat Tofu Slices marks a significant milestone for Squeaky Bean, offering them in two irresistible flavors: Red Pepper & Tomato and Spinach & Basil.

Interestingly, many consumers are deterred from purchasing tofu due to a lack of cooking knowledge. In fact, a study by The Compleat Food Group/Vypr in June 2024 revealed that 30% of tofu non-buyers avoid it simply because they don’t know how to prepare it. To effectively address this challenge, Squeaky Bean’s new ready-to-eat slices provide a convenient, flavor-rich solution. This innovation brings the benefits of tofu to a broader audience in a market largely dominated by tofu blocks.

These slices serve as the perfect protein-rich lunchbox staple, a delicious addition to salads and wraps, or can be enjoyed straight from the pack, adding versatility to any diet.

Additionally, the product lineup now features the Super Grain & Vegetable Burger — Squeaky Bean’s first-ever burger and the category’s inaugural fermented rye burger.

This burger was meticulously crafted to meet increasing consumer demands for cleaner label, whole plant-based alternatives. Notably, 41% of plant-based shoppers prioritize natural ingredients (source: The Compleat Food Group/Vypr – June 2024). The Super Grain & Vegetable Burger offers a protein-packed, fiber-rich option without sacrificing quality or taste.

The burger recipe artfully combines red pepper, carrot, and paprika with fermented rye grains, delivering a uniquely meaty texture without relying on emulsifiers or stabilizers. It pan-fries in just six minutes, making it ideal for weeknight dinners, barbecues, or a quick yet satisfying lunch.
