Amcor (NYSE:AMCR, ASX:AMC), a global leader in developing and producing responsible packaging solutions, proudly announces its achievement in winning two Silver Flexible Packaging Achievement Awards in the Sustainability category.

The awards were presented today at the Achievement Awards Breakfast, occurring alongside the Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) 2025 Annual Meeting in Aventura, Florida.

“We are honored to be recognized by the FPA for innovations that are making a difference for our customers and the environment,” stated Brian Carvill, vice president of research and development at Amcor Flexibles North America. “Amcor’s winning packaging and equipment demonstrate how we apply our capabilities in material science and packaging technology to unlock growth for our customers and deliver more sustainable solutions.”

The FPA Achievement Awards have celebrated innovation in the packaging industry since 1956, and this year, there were 226 entries, with 20 products ultimately being honored. Among these were:

Amcor Moda Vacuum Packaging for U.S. Beef Exports

The Amcor Moda vacuum packaging solution is a highly efficient tubular rollstock and on-demand bag-making system specifically designed for fresh meat processors. This solution, utilized for U.S. beef exports, offers material cost reductions of up to 30%, lowers packaging inventory needs, and simplifies inventory management by printing directly on the tubing during production.

By adopting the Amcor Moda solution, producers can significantly reduce the reliance on corrugated shrink bag boxes. Instead of traditional packaging, rolls of Amcor tubestock are shipped on pallets, allowing a single pallet to produce 40% more bags compared to standard pallets of traditional shrink bags. This innovation reduces transportation costs and optimizes inventory space by the same percentage. Furthermore, the adaptable tubestock accommodates various sizes and cuts of both bone-in and boneless meat, thereby minimizing packaging stock-keeping units (SKUs). The system enables quick adjustments to packaging dimensions and graphics at the touch of a button.

The need for manually inserted export cards is eliminated by a high-resolution thermal transfer printer that prints logos and variable information such as dates and time codes directly on the package, significantly reducing packaging material usage.

The Moda system incorporates more sustainable film options as well. Amcor Eco-Tite® recycle-ready tubestock replaces conventional shrink bag materials with a more sustainable, right-gauged barrier film, reducing packaging by 29%. This innovative film is compliant with the APR Design® Guide and has successfully passed APR’s Critical Guidance Testing. For fresh bone-in beef cuts, Amcor’s resistant CBP® tubestock replaces conventional patch bags, resulting in over a 35% reduction in material weight.

  • 5% reduction in non-renewable energy use per pouch
  • 22% reduction in carbon footprint per pouch

The Cheer Pack North America Vizi™ cap enhances sustainability metrics even further, offering a 22% reduction in carbon footprint per pouch. By transitioning to the Vizi™ cap and CHEERClassic™ standard spout, Once Upon a Farm™ will cut the volume of plastic in the cap and spout by over 30%.
