Paul Friston brings over 28 years of experience with M&S, where he has excelled in various financial roles. Notably, he served as the interim chief financial officer from July 2014 to March 2015.

In May 2016, he ascended to the role of managing director for M&S International, a position he held for six years. Transitioning to chief commercial officer of M&S Food in July 2022, Friston has consistently demonstrated his leadership capabilities.

‘Ambitious plans’

Ranjit Singh, president of BHL, expressed enthusiasm about Friston’s appointment: “I am delighted to welcome Paul to 2 Sisters. He joins at an extremely important time for the business, and I look forward to working closely with him as we execute our ambitious sustainability and investment plans in the coming years, which will shape our business for the next generation.”

Friston will officially join the 2 Sisters Food Group business in early February and will become a member of the BHL Board.

Reflecting on this new opportunity, Friston stated: “2 Sisters is a dynamic business; I know it well and very much respect it as a food manufacturing leader in the UK, so I am extremely happy to be joining the team.”

Food sector challenges

“There are clearly many challenges for the food sector in such a competitive and cost-conscious environment, but the potential of a business as ambitious and significant as 2 Sisters is a truly exciting prospect. I look forward to playing my part in taking the company forward.”

Friston succeeds Nigel Williams, who has opted to return to Australia for family reasons. Williams held the chief financial officer role since March 2024 and previously worked in financial positions at Collins Foods, Starbucks, and Pret A Manger.

In addition, the Kraft Heinz Company has announced the appointment of Marta Pilczuk as its new managing director for the UK and Ireland. Pilczuk assumed her responsibilities on 1 January 2025, succeeding Jojo Lins De Noronha, who departed after 10 years to pursue other opportunities.
