The Poultry Federation of India (PFI) and the USA Poultry and Eggs Export Council (USAPEEC) have come together to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a significant milestone in the fight against protein deficiency. This collaboration aims to promote knowledge and consumption of poultry protein, addressing the pressing issue of inadequate protein intake highlighted by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
According to the ICMR, ensuring sufficient protein intake is essential for optimal health. However, the current average dietary protein consumption in India falls below recommended levels, leading to various health challenges. With the average intake hovering around 0.6g per kg of ideal body weight, there is a pressing need to bridge this gap.
The signing ceremony, attended by prominent representatives from both organizations, including Mr. Greg Tyler, President & CEO of USA Poultry and Egg Export Council, underscored the importance of this partnership in addressing critical nutritional needs and promoting international cooperation in the poultry industry.
Greg Tyler expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “We are excited to partner with the Poultry Federation of India to tackle protein deficiency in India. By combining our expertise and resources, we aim to raise awareness about the nutritional benefits of poultry products and contribute to improving health and well-being.”
This partnership encompasses a wide range of initiatives, including educational programs, research and development projects, market expansion opportunities, and campaigns to raise nutritional awareness. By pooling their expertise, both organizations strive to educate the public about the nutritional advantages of poultry products.
Overall, this partnership signifies a shared commitment to enhancing the nutritional landscape and creating a healthier, protein-rich future.
