Hinojosa Packaging Group is furthering its global presence with the recent acquisition of Italian company MS Packaging. This strategic move marks Hinojosa’s entry into the Italian market, a key player in the paper and cardboard industry in Europe.

MS Packaging, a reputable family-owned business in Italy, specializes in manufacturing and selling paper and corrugated cardboard packaging. The company, which includes a packaging factory and a paper mill, holds a strong position in the food and beverage sector with a 2023 turnover of 60 million euros and a workforce of approximately 200 employees, all of whom will remain employed under Hinojosa’s leadership.

In line with its commitment to providing customers with a diverse product range, Hinojosa has integrated MS Packaging into its operations, sharing the same core values of innovation, cutting-edge technology, sustainability, and customer proximity. The acquisition of MS Packaging brings Hinojosa’s total workforce to 2900 employees across 24 production plants in Spain, Portugal, France, and now Italy.

This acquisition aligns with Hinojosa’s new 2024-2026 Strategic Plan, focusing on international expansion to meet the growing demand for sustainable packaging solutions and stay ahead of industry trends to better serve customers.

Despite a 10% decrease in turnover in 2023 to 739 million euros, Hinojosa successfully reduced carbon emissions and enhanced value through innovation, passing on cost savings to customers through its efficient cost management practices.

Building on its international growth, Hinojosa acquired a 49% stake in French company ASV Packaging in 2023, strengthening its presence in France and enhancing its product offerings to European clients. The addition of French plants to its network, alongside those in Portugal and Spain, contributed to a 10% increase in the company’s workforce.

Emphasizing its commitment to environmental stewardship, Hinojosa achieved a 22% reduction in emissions and improved waste valorization to 95.2% in 2023, supporting its ESG goals towards decarbonization.

As part of its innovation strategy, Hinojosa introduced Foodservice in 2023, a range of 100% recyclable primary packaging for beverages and prepared foods. This sustainable product line meets the evolving market demand for eco-friendly packaging solutions, addressing climate change concerns and promoting responsible waste management.
