Schubert North America, a subsidiary of the esteemed Schubert Group and a pioneer in packaging automation, is set to unveil its latest packaging technology advancements at Pack Expo, scheduled for October 18-21 in Chicago. This year, the company will have a presence at two separate booths: S-3700 in the South Hall and W-222052 in the Healthcare Pavilion of the West Hall. During the event, Schubert will present the Lightline Case Packer, an adaptable and scalable end-of-line automation system designed to streamline the case packing process while allowing for enhanced functionality. In the West Hall, visitors can explore the TLM cartoner specifically designed for blow-fill-seal (BFS) products, showcased by Schubert’s dedicated pharmaceutical team.

This exhibit marks a significant year for Schubert as it celebrates 60 years of innovation in packaging automation and inaugurates a newly established headquarters in Charlotte, NC. Spanning 45,000 square feet, this facility is poised to strengthen and expedite customer service across North America.

Lightline Case Packer

The Lightline Case Packer represents an effective solution for end-of-line packaging by automating the process of packing cartons into wrap-around cases through a modular machine framework. This design not only simplifies project planning but also accelerates implementation, making it particularly effective for applications that require less format and process variability. Offering a reliable and economical choice with low initial setup costs, the system ensures rapid delivery and occupies a compact footprint, allowing for seamless incorporation into existing production workflows.

With the capacity to produce as many as 60 cartons and 15 wrap-around cases per minute, the Lightline Case Packer efficiently manages both vertical and horizontal product orientations. To enhance uptime and operational efficiency, format changeovers are entirely automatic, requiring no specialized components or manual adjustments.

To adapt to shifting production needs, Schubert provides a selection of optional upgrade packages for the Lightline Case Packer. Options include the Flex Package for handling products without orientation constraints; the Changeover Package that allows for quick and reproducible format changes using servo-driven settings; the Advanced Safety Package, designed to improve safety for operators and maintenance staff; and the Inspection Package for automated quality control of products and packaging.

TLM Cartoner

Operating at a speed of 120 products per minute, this streamlined top-loading machine efficiently erects folding cartons, gathers the BFS cards, and loads them into the cartons in an ingenious head-to-foot configuration. Once the package leaflet is automatically placed inside, the carton is securely sealed, marked with a laser, and sent to the outfeed.

This showcased machine is part of Schubert’s comprehensive end-to-end packaging solution, which seamlessly connects all stages of the process—from product infeed, utilizing the Flowmodul horizontal flow-wrapping system, to final secondary packaging.

Latest Innovation: TLM Generation 7

Unveiled earlier this year, the TLM Generation 7 is Schubert’s most recent top-loading packaging platform. It boasts a remarkable production capability of up to 800 products and over 260 flowpacks per minute while maintaining a compact footprint of just 32 square meters. The newly designed frame offers quadruple the stability at high speeds, thereby enhancing precision and reliability.

Engineered for future demands, the TLM Generation 7 incorporates AI-optimized robotic movement, twin-pick tooling for accelerated handling, energy-efficient servo technologies, and a modular structure that simplifies both maintenance and integration. The machine features web-based operation, integrated Wi-Fi, and enhanced cybersecurity measures, all contributing to improved connectivity, adaptability, and long-term operational performance.

Additional Offerings

Schubert’s dedicated team will also showcase a comprehensive suite of services and training programs aimed at assisting clients in optimizing machine performance, prolonging equipment lifespans, and ensuring uninterrupted operations. With over 25 years of experience in North America, Schubert is committed to fostering enduring partnerships with manufacturers in the food, bakery, healthcare, and consumer goods sectors.
