US-based Central Valley Meats has recently acquired a beef processing plant in Fresno, California from Cargill, expanding its processing capacity to better meet market demands and support the cattle and dairy industry in California and the western region. The undisclosed fee transaction will also facilitate Cargill employees at the Fresno plant to explore roles within Central Valley Meats as the deal progresses. Additionally, Cargill will retain its neighboring ground beef and hamburger patty facility in Fresno.
Central Valley CEO and owner, Brian Coelho, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating that it aligns with their long-term vision of enhancing their offerings to cater to customer needs more effectively. Central Valley Meat, established in 1993, currently employs over 900 individuals and processes 1,500 cattle per day. The company’s commitment to delivering quality beef products has been further highlighted by its acquisition of Harris Farms’ beef operations in 2019.
“We’re excited to collaborate with cattle producers in the state and region to continue supplying top-notch beef products for our customers and consumers,” Coelho emphasized.
Central Valley Meat’s dedication to growth and innovation in the food and beverage industry is evident through strategic acquisitions like these. By expanding their processing capacity and strengthening their offerings, they aim to stay ahead in the competitive market landscape. This move not only benefits their business but also supports the local industry and contributes to the overall development of the food and drink sector.
