The group, owned by Ranjit Singh Boparan, founder of 2 Sisters Food Group, plans to launch 50 Slim Chickens locations across the UK in 2026. Notably, this initiative includes the introduction of three new drive-thrus in Sheffield, Teesside, and Chester, all set to open in the first quarter of the year.

In addition, Boparan Restaurant Group has ambitious plans to open 30 new Giraffe restaurants globally over the next four years.

Currently, Boparan Restaurant Group operates nearly 75 Slim Chickens sites in the UK. The company has spent the last 18 months strategically preparing for this significant expansion.

Moreover, the Giraffe brand has “continued to thrive in the international travel sector.”

“With a strong airport presence already established, the next phase of growth includes imminent openings in Tenerife and Edinburgh, followed by an ambitious pipeline of 30 new global sites over the next four years,” the group stated.

“Working alongside leading international airport partners, Giraffe is extending its reach and cementing its position as a trusted global name in travel dining, bringing vibrant, family-friendly experiences to millions of passengers worldwide.”

Commenting on the transaction, Boparan Restaurant Group People Director Martin Owen remarked: “This is a strategic opportunity for GBK which allows us to focus on our core growth area of delivery.”

“Selecting who we sold the sites to was a vital part of this process. We needed to ensure that they had the right values and would do the right thing by our amazing colleagues. We thank our colleagues for their exceptional commitment and contribution to the brand.”

Additionally, Thomas Kelly, chair of the Honest Burgers board, stated: “This acquisition is an important step in our strategic plan to quadruple the size of our business over the next five years. We’re excited about the journey ahead and the opportunity this brings.”
