These new offerings aim to embody the most indulgent characteristics of Ben & Jerry’s, featuring a combination of five elements, including chunks and swirls that enhance sensory satisfaction.
Among the new flavours, Ben & Jerry’s Churrifically Churros-y brings to life the nostalgic churros experience. This indulgent ice cream features a blend of caramel and sweet cream, cinnamon sugar pieces, gooey chocolatey swirls, and churros-style chunks.
Similarly, Ben & Jerry’s Strawberry Doughnut-eee incorporates a delicious mix of strawberry and sweet cream ice creams, white chocolate chunks, jammy strawberry swirls, and doughnut-style dough chunks, appealing particularly to young consumers.
Both of these new SKUs are crafted using Fairtrade Certified vanilla, sugar, and cocoa, aligning with current food and drink sustainability trends.
Lucy McManus, UK Brand Manager at Ben & Jerry’s, stated: “We’re thrilled to introduce two indulgent new ice creams from Ben & Jerry’s. The new tubs are focused on accelerating growth through innovation that levels up the Ben & Jerry’s globally-adored offering.”
Furthermore, she noted: “Our consumer testing has shown that churros and doughnuts are particularly popular among a young audience and score highly on purchase intent, especially among 18–34-year-olds. We are confident this launch will drive excitement among this demographic.”
Ben & Jerry’s Churrifically Churros-y and Ben & Jerry’s Strawberry Doughnut-eee are now available at Ocado, with a recommended retail price (RRP) of £5.75.
In contrast, Ben & Jerry’s has faced recent controversies over its stance on social issues, particularly regarding its conflict with parent company Unilever over plans for a Palestinian-themed ice cream to support Gaza.
This conflict escalated last month when Unilever’s Magnum Ice Cream division stated that the Ben & Jerry’s chair no longer met board criteria.
Additionally, Unilever recently announced plans to finalize the demerger of its ice cream business by year-end.
