Applications to become Aldi’s official Crisp Taster must be submitted by August 21. Following this deadline, Aldi will select a new taster to succeed last year’s winner, George Critchley.
George, an NHS worker from Sheffield, captured the judges’ attention in 2024 with his unique application. He shared that his wedding tables were themed around his favorite snacks, naming them after crisp varieties such as Wotsits and Discos.
What’s In Store for the New Taster?
The chosen applicant will enjoy a selection of Aldi’s most popular crisps, including:
- Specially Selected Lightly Sea Salted Hand Cooked Crisps
- Specially Selected Mature Cheddar & Red Onion Hand Cooked Crisps
- Snackrite Delta Strips
- Snackrite Cheese Flavour Cheezios
In exchange for these delicious samples, the crispy connoisseur will provide exclusive reviews, rating each product on taste, crunch, texture, and appearance. This feedback will be invaluable for guiding Aldi’s purchasing decisions.
Reflecting on the Experience
Critchley remarked: “Being Aldi’s Crisp Taster was an utter delight – I got to sample new flavours before anyone else and directly influence what hits the shelves.” He added, “It wasn’t just fun, it was a genuine opportunity to shape the future of snacks for a whole nation. If you’re a true crisp connoisseur, this is a role you don’t want to miss.”
How to Apply
To apply for this exciting opportunity, interested candidates should submit a video detailing why they would make the perfect Crisp Taster. Along with the video, include your name, age, location, and social media handles. Send your applications to crisptaster@aldi.co.uk.
Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, commented: “After the success of last year with hundreds of entries, we welcome our shoppers’ feedback once again to make sure our latest products provide the quality, taste, and price they deserve.” She continued, “Our range of crisps are going down a treat this year, so launching the role for a new Crisp Taster is the perfect way to encourage innovative ideas and delicious products onto shelves.”
