Sadel Group Announces New 90,000-Pallet Automated Cold Storage Facility in Bristol

Sadel Group has revealed ambitious plans to build a state-of-the-art 90,000-pallet, fully automated frozen cold storage facility in Bristol. This significant project represents a crucial advancement in food supply chain infrastructure, both regionally and nationally. The facility will be managed by Magnavale Ltd and is designed to cater to both new and existing clients. Its strategic location at the intersection of the M4 and M5 motorways allows for quick access to South Wales and the Southwest of England.

Andrew Lawrence, Director of Sadel Group, expressed enthusiasm: “We’ve been working towards this milestone for some time. With the design work complete and our development partners in place, we’re ready to hit the ground running later this month.”

The South-West has experienced a prolonged lack of investment in cold storage solutions, primarily due to the presence of a limited number of aging facilities. Consequently, Lawrence emphasized, “Our development in Bristol will significantly reshape the regional cold supply chain and deliver vital services for the food sector.”

The new site, Magnavale Bristol, will adhere to similar design principles as Magnavale Easton, a recent addition to the Magnavale network. This innovative establishment will incorporate cutting-edge refrigeration technology, advanced automation systems, and versatile mezzanine floors. These features will support a variety of value-added services, including picking, packing, date coding, and export handling.

Additionally, Amanda Cogan, Chief Operations Officer at Magnavale, stated: “We have recently completed a 25,000-pallet expansion at our Chesterfield site and delivered a 101,000-pallet fully automated cold store in Easton, Lincolnshire. With these projects now complete, we are excited to begin the next phase of our expansion in the Southwest. Magnavale Bristol will provide food businesses across South Wales and the Southwest and West of England with a long-term partner they can rely on.”
