Martin Dickie co-founded BrewDog with James Watt in 2007, and he has announced his departure following Watt’s exit last year.

During his tenure, BrewDog expanded its reach to over 60 countries and diversified its beer offerings significantly. Recently, Dickie played a crucial role in guiding master distiller Steven Kersley as BrewDog ventured into the spirits and cocktail sectors.

Leadership and Future Directions

Following Dickie’s departure, there will be no changes to BrewDog’s leadership team. James Taylor continues to serve as the company’s CEO. BrewDog has confirmed its commitment to expanding its spirits and cocktail repertoire while keeping its core focus on craft beer and sustainability.

James Taylor commented on Dickie’s exit:

“Martin’s contributions to BrewDog have been immeasurable. His creativity, passion, and relentless drive have shaped our company over the years and inspired countless others in the industry.”

Taylor further expressed gratitude for Dickie’s emphasis on product quality, new product development, workplace safety, and sustainable supplier relationships. He concluded by stating that Dickie will always be part of the BrewDog family, wishing him success in all future endeavors.

Personal Reflections from Dickie

In response, Dickie shared that after more than two decades in brewing and distilling, stepping away is bittersweet.

“It’s time for me to leave the industry that I love deeply and hopefully had a positive impact in,” he remarked.

He acknowledged the difficulty of leaving BrewDog but mentioned his desire to reduce travel and spend more quality time at home with his young family.

“It has been an honour to have worked with incredible, like-minded colleagues who live in a world of flavour and experimentation. Our hard work and passion is dedicated to bringing our customers a moment of beautiful escapism from the real world,” he added.

Ultimately, Dickie expressed confidence in BrewDog’s leadership, stating, “In James Taylor and Lauren Carrol, BrewDog is in very strong hands, and I will always remain a massive fan.”
