The acquisition deal, first announced in February 2024, underwent investigation by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission in the Republic of Ireland. However, it received clearance and was successfully completed last month.

As of now, no financial details regarding the agreement have been disclosed.

Founded in 1993, BDS Vending is a food and drink vending services company based in Dublin. The firm operates depots in various locations including Dublin, Cork, Belfast, Galway, Sligo, Limerick, and Wexford. Moreover, BDS Vending possesses a significant fleet of approximately 2,000 vending machines.

This strategic acquisition is integral to Coca-Cola HBC’s initiative to “enhance its route-to-market,” aiming to refine its capacity for direct consumer sales.

The company has stated that this acquisition will unlock new opportunities across its diverse portfolio, comprising snacks and both cold and hot beverage brands.

“BDS Vending, in collaboration with Coca-Cola HBC Ireland and Northern Ireland, has the potential to transform the vending industry on the island of Ireland,” noted Simon Fitzpatrick, general manager of Coca-Cola HBC Ireland and Northern Ireland.

“This acquisition will enable our business to implement agile operating methods, harness innovative technology, and strengthen our route-to-market capabilities. Consequently, we will provide our customers with greater choice through our 24/7 portfolio and enhance the overall consumer experience. We eagerly anticipate welcoming our new colleagues to the Coca-Cola HBC Group.”

The announcement of Fitzpatrick’s appointment as general manager was confirmed last month, highlighting his extensive 20-year tenure with the company.

Reflecting on his promotion, Fitzpatrick stated: “I have spent almost all my career at Coca-Cola HBC and know first-hand what an incredible business it is.”

With its headquarters in Dublin, Coca-Cola HBC Ireland and Northern Ireland acts as a strategic bottling partner for The Coca-Cola Company. The organization is responsible for manufacturing, distributing, selling, and channel marketing its extensive beverage portfolio.

Employing more than 850 individuals from its head office, the company also operates a manufacturing facility in Lisburn, alongside depots in Cork, Tuam, and Tipperary.
