Cepac Ltd, a UK-based company specializing in food and drink packaging, has recently completed the latest phase of a £20m investment plan. This investment marks a significant enhancement to their business.
This recent phase of the project involved adding new equipment at their Darlington site to expand their Flutepac portfolio – a range of sustainable, fully recyclable packaging designed for direct food contact.
The addition of microflute corrugator capacity at the Darlington site now positions Cepac as one of the leading producers in the UK for trays, punnets, and clamshells used in various food applications. The Flutepac range offers a sustainable alternative to traditional plastic packaging, making it ideal for brands looking to transition to cardboard solutions.
All manufacturing processes are done in-house.
By applying fully recyclable barriers for grease and moisture resistance to the base paper raw material and processing it through to the finished product, Cepac ensures high-quality packaging solutions. The entire manufacturing process, from coating the paper to die-cutting, folding, and gluing the cardboard into trays, punnets, and clamshells, is done under one roof in Darlington.
Chris Ford, Group Sales Director at Cepac, explains, “The Flutepac range has quickly become a preferred cardboard packaging solution known for its ease of use, product protection, and recyclability. With all manufacturing processes centralized at our Darlington site, we are now one of the largest manufacturers of cardboard tray solutions in the UK market.”
Steve Moss, Group Managing Director at Cepac, emphasizes the company’s commitment to investment and innovation. “The expansion of microflute corrugator capacity at our Darlington site allows us to produce microflute board specifically for food-safe applications. This brings enhanced production capabilities and faster delivery times to our customers, all under one BRCGS AA accredited location.”
