The 750ml Bordeaux and Schlegel bottles have undergone a significant weight reduction, decreasing from 410g to 360g. By incorporating up to 80% high recycled glass cullet, these innovative bottles contribute to a 12% reduction in carbon emissions per unit, aligning with current trends in food and drink sustainability.
Both the Bordeaux and Schlegel 750ml bottles feature a screw cap finish (BVS). Additionally, the Bordeaux range offers the traditional cork mouth finish. Available in flint, antique green, and various standard green colors, the Schlegel range also introduces a royal blue option, enhancing consumer choice in sustainable packaging solutions.
This new line is produced at AGP in Germersheim, Germany, and expands the already established lightweight European range, which includes a 345g wine bottle manufactured in the UK. This move reflects a growing focus on food and drink packaging that prioritizes sustainability and reduces the environmental footprint of glass production.
Stuart Santon, chief commercial officer of AGP-Europe, stated: “These new lightweight wine bottles in a range of colors and finishes offer our customers versatility and choice, while reducing the carbon footprint of their glass packaging.” His emphasis on diverse options highlights the ongoing evolution of food and drink marketing strategies that cater to modern consumer trends.
