Wrexham Lager is actively expanding its market presence with the rollout of four-can multipacks of its signature 4% ABV lager. These products are now available in 276 Total Wines & More locations across 29 states, including California, Florida, Texas, and New York.
Total Wines & More stands as a prominent independent alcohol retailer in the United States, boasting an estimated worth of approximately $2.4 billion.
Regarding this growth opportunity, CEO James Wright commented: “To secure our first listing in the US with a retailer of this magnitude and across as many states as we have is extremely positive. We’ve been in conversation with Total Wine & More since early 2024, and this gives us great penetration in the US from the start of our rollout in that market.”
“The team at Total Wine & More really believes in the quality of the product and its ability to appeal to local consumers thanks to its taste and moderate ABV. We’re confident we can be the first British lager to really build a long-term and successful presence in the US.”
In the past year, Wrexham Lager has successfully entered retailers in Australia, Japan, Norway, and Sweden, with plans to expand into Canada in the first quarter of 2025.
In addition to the flagship lager, the brewery also offers the 5% ABV Wrexham Lager Export and the newly introduced 4.6% ABV Pilsener.
New Owners
This announcement coincides with the recent news that Hollywood actors Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have become co-owners of the business, alongside the Roberts family.
The actors acquired the brewery through Red Dragon Ventures, a joint venture formed by their R.R. McReynolds company, along with minority investors the Allyn family from Skaneateles, New York.
In addition, both McElhenney and Reynolds are majority owners of Wrexham AFC and have produced the popular TV series ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ about the football club.
“Wrexham Lager has a 140-year-old recipe and a storied history, and we’re excited to help write its next chapter,” they remarked.
