Barry O’Sullivan, who has held the position of managing director and chair of Diageo Ireland since April 2021, is set to transition to a new role effective 1 July.
In a related move, Nuno Teles, the current Diageo GB boss, will step into the role of managing director for Diageo Mexico. His tenure in the UK spanned three years, following a leadership role at the Diageo Beer Company in the US.
Louise Ryan will succeed O’Sullivan as the head of Diageo Ireland, ensuring continuity in leadership.
Throughout his time with Diageo Ireland, O’Sullivan has driven “consistent and sustainable growth,” playing a crucial role in last year’s announcements regarding the €100 million investment in decarbonizing the St. James’s Gate brewery in Dublin and the €30 million investment in the production of Guinness 0.0.
Before joining Diageo Ireland, O’Sullivan accumulated extensive experience in various senior roles at Mars across the globe.
“I cannot wait to get started in Diageo’s home market of Great Britain, where some of the country’s most iconic and loved brands are at the heart of celebrations,” he expressed enthusiastically.
“After four wonderful years in Ireland, I look forward to bringing my experience to this new role and building on the incredible legacy that Nuno leaves behind.”
As Diageo GB managing director, Teles implemented “bold decisions to reshape the business,” notably establishing the Diageo Luxury Company, designed to Ffoodoversee the firm’s premium brand portfolio.
“While I am excited by the opportunity ahead, I will be very sad to leave the remarkable market that is Diageo GB,” Teles remarked.
“Barry is a brilliant leader and hugely respected across the business, and I have strong confidence that Diageo GB will thrive under his leadership while continuing our commitment to brilliant execution.”
Headquartered in London, Diageo boasts over 200 brands, including Guinness, Johnnie Walker, Baileys, Smirnoff, and Captain Morgan.
