Coca-Cola has issued a recall for 18 packs of 500ml glass bottles of ‘Topo Chico Mineral Water’. The lot code for the affected bottles is #13A2541, which may potentially be contaminated with the bacteria Pseudomonas, as noted in a letter to Costco members.

Customers can locate the lot code on both the box and the neck of the bottle. This recall specifically pertains to packs purchased between May 20 and May 29 at select warehouses in Texas and Louisiana.

Affected consumers are urged to return the contaminated packs to their nearest Costco for a full refund. Alternatively, they may contact Coca-Cola directly for assistance.

“Pseudomonas can be found naturally in water sources, including mineral water,” Coca-Cola stated. Additionally, they added, “The health consequences of consuming mineral water with the presence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa is considered to be very low in healthy individuals, though minor health issues may arise for those with weakened immune systems.”

“The safety and quality of the products we offer our consumers is our top priority.”

Consumers can access the official recall notice on the Costco website. Notably, Costco is a major US-based retailer and wholesaler operating in 14 countries, including the UK.

Topo Chico is a popular sparkling mineral water brand that originated in Mexico. Acquired by Coca-Cola in 2017 for $220 million, it has since gained broader distribution across the United States.

Furthermore, the Topo Chico product line features various SKUs, even including an alcoholic seltzer.

In related news, a tomato recall in the US linked to Salmonella contamination has been upgraded to the most severe warning. This particular recall involves tomatoes sold by Williams Farms Repack LLC, which the Food and Drug Administration has classified as Class I—suggesting potential life-threatening consequences from consumption.
