Griffiths Family Foods (GFF) and French cooperative Eureden have partnered to enhance value-added egg product sales in the UK.
This collaboration links GFF with Eureden’s egg division, Eureden Oeuf, leading to the establishment of the jointly owned E&G Sales Co. Notably, the new entity will operate from GFF’s family-run headquarters in Shropshire, England.
As a significant step, GFF has launched a modern manufacturing facility at its Shropshire location to produce liquid egg products and ready-to-eat meals, such as omelettes, poached eggs, scrambled eggs, and egg bites, as confirmed by a spokesperson for the UK business.
Starting October 1, E&G Sales Co. will market these offerings alongside Eureden Oeuf’s range of value-added products.
Both companies will maintain their production capabilities in their existing factories. They will combine their strengths—Eureden’s expertise in R&D, NPD, marketing, and its broad product portfolio, and GFF’s extensive UK market knowledge and established contacts. This synergized approach will empower the joint venture to effectively market and sell their product offerings,” stated the spokesperson.
The joint venture aims to target quick-service restaurants, foodservice providers, and wholesalers. Additionally, it plans to recruit a UK-based commercial director to oversee the combined portfolio of E&G Sales.
Eureden conveyed in a joint statement that this collaboration aligns with its strategy to expand its international footprint in the egg market. For GFF, it represents a significant leap into the value-added segment, diversifying its capabilities beyond conventional egg production.
With a legacy of 70 years in family farming, GFF processes up to one billion eggs annually under the Oaklands Farm Eggs brand. Recently, the company acquired Framptons’ egg division in 2024, further enhancing its abilities in liquid egg and ready-to-eat product markets.
Elwyn Griffiths, managing director of Griffiths Family Foods, remarked: “Our businesses are closely aligned, ranging from in-depth knowledge of the sector to a strong commitment to quality and sustainability.”
He further stated, “Eureden’s influence in Europe, combined with our strength in the UK market, puts us in an ideal position to grow together and better serve our customers.”
The Breton cooperative, representing 17,000 farmers and employing 8,000 staff, processes over 1.6 billion eggs per year. Its egg division employs 600, generates a turnover exceeding €300 million ($342.8 million), and exports 15% of its sales to over 40 countries.
Eureden Oeuf specializes in free-range and barn-raised eggs, offering value-added products such as omelettes, scrambled eggs, and egg bites, produced across four sites in France and one in Germany (Ovofit).
Rodolphe Millet, director of Eureden’s egg division, added: “The creation of this joint venture with Griffiths is an opportunity for us to mutually strengthen our position in the UK market for processed egg products.”
