Isle of Mull Cheese is proactively recalling an entire batch of its Hebridean Blue Cheese due to potential E.coli contamination.

This recall pertains specifically to packs labeled with the batch code 8051224 and a best before date of 10 April 2025, covering all pack sizes.

Consumers can find both the batch code and the best before date on the back label of the packaging.

Ingesting E.coli may result in symptoms such as diarrhoea, abdominal pain, bloody diarrhoea, and haemolytic uraemic syndrome, which is a severe condition that can potentially lead to kidney failure and may be fatal.

In response, Isle of Mull Cheese has implemented point-of-sale notices that will be displayed in all retail outlets selling the product to inform consumers of the recall.

These notices encourage anyone who has purchased a pack from the affected batch to return it to the store for a full refund.

Isle of Mull is situated off Scotland’s west coast, where Isle of Mull Cheese has been operating since 1980.

In addition to cheese production, the business also crafts its own whisky on the farm.
