Phytonext asserts that its innovative extraction technology effectively removes “bitterness” from stevia in just one step.

Stevia leaves naturally contain sweeteners that are 100 to 400 times sweeter than sugar, all without any calories. Nevertheless, Phytonext highlights that stevia leaves also harbor bitter components, posing challenges for the use of natural stevia in consumer products. Importantly, blind tasting tests demonstrated a marked reduction in bitterness between stevia treated with Phytonext’s extraction technology and untreated stevia.

Currently, most producers employ a method aimed at extracting sweetness from stevia leaves while inadvertently leaving behind bitter components. This approach carries the risk that bitter elements may cling to the sweet components.

In contrast, Phytonext’s technology operates inversely: it extracts the bitterness from stevia leaves without affecting the sweetness. After this extraction process, the stevia remains unchanged apart from the substantial removal of bitter components. Notably, after treatment, the stevia is ready for direct use as a natural ingredient or as raw material for further sweet component extraction. This method significantly reduces the risk of bitter components in the final product.
