Kepak sources meat from thousands of farmers across Ireland and the UK, producing products that service major retailers and foodservice chains, including Tesco, Asda, Burger King, and McDonald’s. This initiative reflects current food and beverage industry trends aimed at improving supply chain efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Recently, Kepak has transitioned to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations, replacing its outdated Dynamics AX 2012 platform, which it described as “no longer fit for purpose.” This upgrade is crucial in adapting to emerging food processing technology and maintaining competitiveness.

The newly implemented system spans the entire supply chain, warehouse, and financial processes, integrating operations from suppliers to customer-facing transactions. Such integration aligns with food distribution trends that emphasize streamlined processes.

Executed by Nexer Enterprise Applications, this modern system has consolidated Kepak’s operations by establishing a central billing team, thereby replacing site-by-site invoicing. This move effectively enhances customer billing consistency across all major accounts—an approach that resonates with current food and drink marketing strategies.

Additionally, supply chain, warehouse, and finance workflows were standardized onto a single Dynamics 365 platform, eliminating disparate systems throughout eight Irish and several UK facilities. This standardization supports the ongoing adaptation to food and drink regulations.

Kepak emphasized that these advancements are built upon a “robust solution and production architecture,” ensuring scalability for future growth and enhancements in food and drink sustainability.

Jeremy O’Callahan, chief information officer for Kepak Group, stated, “This transformation has been a true partnership. Replacing our end-of-life AX system with Dynamics 365 through Implement365 gives us the consistency and agility we need to support our farmers and customers alike. Nexer’s strategic support was critical to ensuring the implementation process went as smoothly as possible as business continued around it.”

Moreover, Martin Burden, commercial director at Nexer Enterprise Applications, noted, “With Kepak, we’ve helped to future-proof their ever-evolving supply-chain, warehouse, and finance operations through Microsoft Dynamics 365 consolidation. As we move into hyper-care, our focus remains on fine-tuning and ensuring Kepak realizes ongoing value from its investment across both Irish and UK markets.”
