Freshways Acquires UK Dairy Supplier Totally Welsh Dairy

Freshways Acquires UK Dairy Supplier Totally Welsh Dairy acquisition, dairy supplier, Freshways, Freshways Group, Totally Welsh Dairy, UK Food and Beverage Business Freshways

In a significant industry move, UK dairy company Freshways Group has acquired Totally Welsh Dairy. This strategic acquisition is designed to strengthen Freshways’ recent purchase of Müller’s Milk & More business.

Based in Haverfordwest, western Wales, Totally Welsh Dairy will continue its operations seamlessly under Freshways’ leadership. The acquisition not only enhances Freshways’ operational capabilities but also allows the company to provide a broader selection of dairy products, benefiting local Welsh farmers.

Bali Nijjar, Managing Director of Freshways, remarked, “This acquisition will enable us to better serve our customers with an expanded range of products while supporting local Welsh farmers.” Furthermore, he noted the improved delivery capabilities resulting from the integration of Milk & More, which helps meet the increasing demand for convenient and sustainable dairy products.

Additionally, Freshways highlighted that Totally Welsh Dairy has recently invested in a new glass bottling line. This investment is crucial; the new owner plans to leverage this facility to cater to doorstep delivery customers supplied by Milk & More.

Mark Hunter, owner and Managing Director of Totally Welsh, expressed optimism about the acquisition: “The sale to Freshways will ensure the future growth and development of Totally Welsh, creating new opportunities for the company and its dedicated workforce.”

This recent acquisition follows Freshways’ successful finalization of the purchase of the UK food-delivery enterprise Milk & More from Unternehmensgruppe Theo Müller earlier this year. Freshways aims to pivot towards changing consumer habits regarding convenience, as highlighted by their recent efforts to adapt to the increasing prominence of home delivery services. This includes popular platforms like Amazon and Deliveroo.

In addition, the UK’s competition regulator recently announced an investigation into Müller’s acquisition of UK-based dairy business Yew Tree Dairy. This deal, which was publicly revealed in June, aims to leverage Yew Tree’s milk powder to bolster Müller’s export business and improve supply-chain resilience.
