French food group Fleury Michon is acquiring UK plant-based food brand Allplants, which was purchased last year by the founders of Deliciously Ella.

The transaction covers the “marketing activities, teams, and rights related to the Allplants brand”, Fleury Michon said in a statement. The financial details of the deal have not been revealed.

Ella Mills and her husband, Matthew, launched Deliciously Ella in 2012. In 2024, they sold the business to Switzerland-based food manufacturer Hero Group, while continuing to work with the company.

The Mills retained the Plants brand and business, which is separate from Allplants. In 2025, they acquired the Allplants brand from administration. Managing director Kerry Atack will remain in her position following the acquisition by Fleury Michon.

Allplants produces frozen vegan and vegetarian ready meals for retail customers including Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose, as well as online grocery platform Ocado. The company also sells directly to consumers through its own delivery channel.

Its product range includes plant-based burgers and bites, pasta sauces and tomato sauces, plus ready-to-cook pasta and filled pasta products such as tortelloni.

Fleury Michon said the acquisition reflects “strategic complementarity” between the two businesses.

The Euronext-listed company added: “This acquisition strengthens the group’s international footprint and offers it long-term growth prospects.

“The acquisition provides the group with a solid foundation to accelerate the rollout of its plant-based product range in the UK, allowing it to capitalise on opportunities in a market that is more developed than in France.”

Just Food has also approached Fleury Michon to establish whether the Allplants transaction represents its first entry into the UK food market and to understand the strategic reasoning behind the acquisition.

Fleury Michon said “this activity represents a turnover of approximately €5m [$5.6m] (less than 1% of group turnover) in a full year and an EBITDA close to break-even”.

This publication has requested further clarification on the composition of the €5m figure, as well as details of Fleury Michon’s existing activity in the plant-based food category.

The company’s website lists veggie slices and “matchsticks” among its products, although its wider portfolio is primarily focused on non-plant-based prepared meals and fresh meat cuts.

Fleury Michon reported revenue of €836.4m in 2025, representing a 3.6% rise compared with the previous year.

Operating profit was broadly unchanged at €12.2m, down from €12.3m a year earlier. Net income fell sharply to €13.6m from €47.7m.

The company’s shares have declined by approximately 6% so far this year, standing at €23.60.

Earlier in 2026, Fleury Michon revealed plans to establish its first US manufacturing facility in South Covington, Kentucky, through its airline catering subsidiary MarfoFMA.

At the same time, the group has been divesting certain operations. In 2024, it sold its meal trays business in the Île-de-France region and disposed of its interest in Spanish venture Platos Tradicionales, which it jointly owned with Familia Martínez.
