Morrisons has issued a recall for its own brand ‘wafer thin cooked chicken’ slices packaged in 170g and 400g sizes, with all best before dates up to 16 June 2024 being affected. The recall is due to the potential presence of metal in the packs, rendering the chicken unsafe for consumption.

According to reports, the chicken is considered unfit for consumption and has been recalled as a precautionary measure. Point of sale notices have been prominently displayed in all retail stores that carry these products, outlining the reasons for the recall. Customers who have purchased the recalled chicken are advised to return it to the original store of purchase for a full refund.

In a statement, Morrisons assured consumers that no other products have been impacted by this issue. The company expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and emphasized their unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of product quality and safety.

Meanwhile, The Real Wrap Company has also initiated a recall of all its ready-to-eat products due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The affected products, including sandwiches, paninis, rolls, toasties, and wraps, were sold in retail stores located in healthcare settings and have best before dates ranging from 9 to 11 June 2024.

Symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes contamination can mimic flu-like symptoms such as high temperature, muscle ache, chills, nausea, and diarrhea. In severe cases, the infection can lead to complications like meningitis. Individuals at higher risk of listeria infections include older adults, pregnant women, newborns, and those with weakened immune systems.

Retail stores selling the impacted products have been issued with point of sale notices advising customers on the appropriate steps to take and providing a comprehensive list of the recalled items. In other news, Pilgrim’s Europe has recently announced plans to shut down its Spurway factory, potentially affecting 270 jobs.
