In a strategic collaboration, TIPA, a leader in compostable packaging solutions, and Fresh-Lock® closures, known for reclosable flexible packaging technology, are joining forces to promote the use of home compostable packaging. This partnership has led to the launch of a new range of home compostable closures for pouches by the Fresh-Lock team. Designed using TIPA’s proprietary home compostable resin formulation, these closures cater to various markets including food, nutraceuticals, home and personal care.
This initiative marks a significant milestone for consumers and businesses committed to sustainable packaging solutions to address plastic pollution. While flexible packaging offers sustainability advantages over other forms of packaging, traditional plastic films face challenges in recycling due to limited support in recycling programs. With the introduction of this new home compostable technology, there is a convenient solution available to enhance circularity in packaging.
Under this collaboration, Fresh-Lock recently introduced two home compostable closures, Style 8531 with Child-Resistant technology, and Style 8035, a versatile single lock design suitable for various applications. With TIPA’s innovative solutions integrated into this product line, Fresh-Lock® aims to expand its presence in the market for compostable flexible packaging.
As the demand for sustainable packaging solutions continues to rise, TIPA offers fully compostable alternatives to traditional plastic materials. These alternatives provide the same functionalities, such as transparency and durability, while reducing dependence on conventional plastics. When disposed of in a compost bin along with organic material, TIPA’s packaging breaks down and biodegrades into nutrient-rich soil within months, contributing to a circular economy.
“We are excited to collaborate with the Fresh-Lock team to enhance the availability of compostable packaging options in North America,” commented Rodrigo Castaneda, VP/GM, North America, at TIPA. “This partnership is a significant step towards reducing reliance on traditional flexible plastics and adapting to evolving packaging waste management policies for environmental benefit.”
“The combination of TIPA’s expertise in compostable materials and Fresh-Lock’s reputation as an innovator in sustainable reclosable solutions creates a unique opportunity to expand the compostable packaging market,” said Lisa Petersmark, VP Presto Specialty, maker of Fresh-Lock® closures.
To showcase their compostable packaging solutions, TIPA and the Fresh-Lock team will be present at Pack Expo in Chicago from November 3-6. For inquiries or demonstrations, contact John.w@tipa-corp.com or visit www.Fresh-Lock.com.
