McLaren Packaging, a specialist supplier of sustainable paper-based solutions to the UK Food and Drinks sector, proudly introduces a new line of recyclable presentation tubes for spirits. These tubes are revolutionizing the industry by offering a solution to the common challenge of recycling traditional metal and card tubes.
Innovative design and development have led to the adoption of these eco-friendly tubes by several well-known brands, resulting in over 300 metric tonnes saved from landfill annually for those brands alone. Sales and Marketing Director, Michael McLaren, explains, “We have solved the recyclability challenge by developing a range of eco-friendly solutions for tubes of all shapes and sizes.”
For shaped tubes, a vertical perforation has been introduced, allowing for easy separation of the paper body and metal base for recycling. This patented solution has received approval from the On Pack Recycling Label (OPRL) in the UK. Traditional round tubes feature a horizontal perforation at the rear for effortless removal of the metal base, while mono-material tubes with a paper base require no separation for disposal.
Whisky packaging plays a crucial role in promoting and transporting premium spirits globally, making it essential to provide sustainable solutions without compromising quality. McLaren’s new design has already saved 64 metric tons of metal and 261 metric tons of paper from landfill, with projections to recover even more by 2025.
McLaren Packaging’s commitment to environmental responsibility is further demonstrated through their participation in London Packaging Week, where they will showcase their recyclable tube range. As a family-run Scottish business, McLaren Packaging aims to support the spirits industry in transitioning to fully recyclable packaging to reduce environmental impact.
By offering innovative solutions that prioritize sustainability, McLaren Packaging is leading the way in the food and drink packaging industry. With the potential to save 1,780 metric tonnes annually from going to landfill, these recyclable tubes are setting a new standard for environmentally friendly packaging solutions.
