Tetra Pak is proud to announce the release of its 25th Sustainability Report, showcasing the company’s progress in key sustainability areas. The report focuses on five interconnected areas: food systems, circularity, climate, nature, and social sustainability.

Launched on the United Nations’ World Environment Day on June 5th, Tetra Pak’s Sustainability Report FY23 reveals a significant 20% reduction in value chain GHG emissions and a notable 47% reduction in GHG emissions across its own operations since 2019. These achievements put Tetra Pak on track to achieve its target of net zero GHG emissions in its operations by 2030 and align with the company’s ambition to collaborate with stakeholders to achieve net-zero GHG emissions across the entire value chain by 2050.

A highlight in the report is the introduction of an innovative aseptic beverage carton with a paper-based barrier, decreasing its carbon footprint by 33% and moving Tetra Pak closer to creating the most sustainable food package globally. This breakthrough was made possible by a €100 million investment in packaging research and development in 2023, with similar investments planned annually for the next five to ten years.

Adolfo Orive, President & CEO at Tetra Pak, emphasizes the importance of collaboration in the food industry to sustainably feed a growing population. He reaffirms Tetra Pak’s commitment to transforming food systems to be more secure, resilient, and sustainable through partnerships across the value chain.

Additional achievements highlighted in Tetra Pak’s Sustainability Report FY23 include:

  • Expanding School Feeding Programmes to assist 64 million children in 49 countries in accessing milk and nutritious beverages.
  • Accelerating Recycling efforts with a 7% increase in collected carton packages for recycling and a 14% rise in polyAl volume sent for recycling.
  • Consistently receiving recognition for Leadership in Corporate Transparency and Performance, including being featured in the CDP Forests ‘A List’ for the eighth consecutive year.
  • Actively implementing the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
