Prism eLogistics has successfully introduced a fully recyclable sleeving solution for the kefir brand Bio&Me, marking a significant innovation in the dairy sector.

This year, Bio&Me unveiled its groundbreaking line of functional kefir beverages, designed to provide consumers with immunity support, natural energy, and enhanced protein and fiber content. To accompany this launch, the brand sought a packaging solution that would be as inventive as its products, aiming to achieve an ideal balance between visibility, product integrity, and environmental sustainability.

Chosen for its proficiency in shrink sleeving, Prism delivered a solution that not only pushes the limits of dairy packaging but also sets new standards for sustainability in the industry. In contrast to conventional dairy packaging, Bio&Me’s new offering features a transparent bottle adorned with fully recyclable EcoFloat shrink sleeving, meeting the necessary compliance standards and enhancing both sustainability and shelf appeal.

EcoFloat sleeving is specifically designed to enhance the sink/float separation process, making it suitable for recycling through existing polypropylene (PP) recycling channels. This ensures that both the bottle and its decorative sleeve are entirely recyclable. Furthermore, the comprehensive shrink sleeve provides the required opacity to comply with safety standards, mitigating the use of traditional white plastic, which poses greater recycling challenges and incurs higher Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) costs.

Another advantage of this sleeving is the substantial increase in space available for branding compared to conventional labels. By opting for shrink sleeving rather than standard labeling, Bio&Me created a unique full-bottle design that stands out from typical dairy packaging and provides ample room for the essential product information they wish to communicate.

Mark Isaacson, Chief Operating Officer at Bio&Me, shared his enthusiasm:

“Our new range of functional kefir is transforming the dairy landscape. We aimed for our innovative products to be represented appropriately through the packaging. As a proud UK manufacturer, collaborating with a local packaging expert like Prism was crucial to realizing our fully recyclable shrink sleeve solution.”

He added, “By moving away from traditional white plastic and labeling, we’ve created an option that benefits consumers, retailers, and the environment. The strong sales following our launch encourage us to anticipate continued success for this range.”

Ian Wright, Managing Director at Prism eLogistics, remarked:

“Bio&Me represents a thrilling venture, and we’re excited to contribute to their transformative launch. Our development of a solution that is fully compliant with dairy regulations while being recyclable showcases that sustainability and adherence to EPR can coexist with striking, brand-aligned packaging.”

He further noted, “As an increasing number of manufacturers across various industries shift away from colored plastics, we see recyclable shrink sleeving as a viable alternative that can lessen a brand’s environmental impact and associated costs while enhancing visibility and expanding marketing opportunities on product packaging.”
