Parkside is enhancing its commitment to addressing the global packaging challenge by introducing a line of recyclable paper-based flexible packaging materials.

The newly launched Recoflex™ papers come in various specifications, offering durability, exceptional barrier performance, and superior heat sealability. This innovation is a game-changer for paper-based flexible packaging across multiple market segments.

The phased rollout of different specifications will kick off in April, featuring new additions to Parkside’s revolutionary freezerproof paper introduced last year. Among the upcoming offerings are Recoflex Translucent in two configurations, designed for pouches, bags, or lidding film for various fresh food applications. Additionally, a new flow-wrap solution for ambient food and non-food uses will be introduced, along with high barrier performance paper suitable for products requiring increased moisture and oxygen barriers on both horizontal and vertical form, fill, and seal lines.

The second phase, slated for a later release in 2024, will introduce a kraft paper option and an exciting metallised solution to the market. All Recoflex configurations are fully recyclable in kerbside collection schemes, aligning with retailer guidelines and consumer preferences. Steve Hallford, Product Development Technologist at Parkside, highlighted the imminent changes in the packaging industry due to evolving consumer preferences and impending legislation like the EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation. These changes will impact various industries, prompting brands to find a balance between plastic reduction and pack performance. However, Parkside’s Recoflex paper-based packaging provides a viable solution to this evolving landscape.

“Recoflex offers a range of cutting-edge recyclable solutions that our team can customize to meet specific product requirements,” said Hallford. “Our customers now have access to recyclable alternatives to their existing plastic and foil laminate structures without compromising on performance or design. If you’re considering transitioning your brand from plastic to paper-based packaging, there’s never been a better time than now.”
