Novolex® has unveiled its latest sustainability report, emphasizing its strong dedication to ambitious environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals. CEO Stan Bikulege expressed pride in the company’s advancements in 2023, highlighting enhanced safety programs, collaboration with customers on sustainable packaging solutions, and active participation in industry policy discussions.
The report, aligned with the Global Reporting Initiative standards, showcases significant achievements, including:
Expanding the Circularity of Products: Novolex saw a rise in revenues from recyclable, compostable, or reusable products, reaching 84% compared to 78% in 2022. This reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to developing landfill-divertible products.
Progress towards its 30% Reduction by 2030 Greenhouse Gas Target: Novolex achieved a 23% reduction in GHG emissions in 2023, moving closer to its 30% reduction goal by 2030, with third-party assurance of its GHG data.
Growing Recycled Content: The utilization of post-consumer recycled paper in Novolex products increased to 52% in 2023 from 49% in 2022.
Increasing Scope 3 Emissions Disclosures: Novolex now provides a comprehensive overview of its Scope 3 footprint, aiding efforts to address GHG emissions in the supply chain and offer customers carbon data for informed decision-making on material use.
Third-Party Recognition: Novolex’s Vegware® and Eco-Products® businesses received B Corp certifications for their contributions to methane emission reduction and food waste mitigation. Novolex also attained Bronze Medal status from EcoVadis, enhancing its supplier ESG practices ranking among customers.
