NBCo, a leader in moulded fibre packaging innovation, has introduced Fast Forward 50, a transformative initiative aimed at assisting brands in making the crucial shift away from single-use plastic bottles. In line with its commitment to fostering significant advancements in food and drink sustainable packaging, NBCo is offering 50 complimentary fibre bottles to the first 50 brands that enroll, enabling them to test the technology with their products.
Unveiled at the World Economic Forum in Davos, this initiative effectively removes barriers to adoption by providing brands with a high-performance alternative to plastic. With over 600 billion plastic bottles generated yearly, NBCo’s regenerative, circular supply chain presents a scalable response to the escalating environmental crisis.
“Fast Forward 50 is about action,” stated Alvin Lim, Founder & CEO of NBCo. “We understand that brands want to move away from plastic, but transitioning supply chains can be daunting. By offering these first 50 bottles at no cost, we empower companies to take that essential step—without risk or delay.”
A viable, scalable solution for brands
Currently, NBCo’s fibre bottles are crafted from bamboo and bagasse, two rapidly renewable plant materials that deliver exceptional durability and robust barrier protection against moisture and oxygen. Samples have been tested, certified recyclable, and biodegradable, meeting various brand requirements and offering a sustainable substitute to plastic.
Each participating brand will receive a 200ml bottle (122mm x 60mm) to assess product compatibility. These bottles are ideal for both liquids and powders and are certified safe for food contact.
“Fifty bottles are all it takes to start meaningful change,” added Kelvin Lin, VP of Strategic Partnerships at NBCo. “Brands often hesitate to embark on this transition, but this initiative allows them to initiate vital barrier and compatibility tests, witnessing firsthand how our bottles can integrate into their existing product lines and demonstrate the feasibility of alternatives.”
How brands can participate
NBCo invites brands from sectors such as beauty, personal care, food, beverage, and consumer packaged goods to sign up for the initiative. Interested parties can register by contacting info@nbco.world, and NBCo will directly ship the bottles to them.
Post-testing, NBCo will collaborate with brands to customize and scale production, offering a roadmap to market in as little as three months, contingent on final design and product specifications.
“The plastic crisis is not a waste problem – it’s a design problem and a production problem,” remarked Sian Sutherland, Co-founder of A Plastic Planet and PlasticFree, during the launch event at Davos 2025. “With regenerative, circular solutions like NBCo’s fibre bottles, brands now have a realistic and swift path to move beyond plastic and embrace packaging that harmonizes with Nature, packaging that naturally decomposes without adverse effects.”
A call to action for the industry
NBCo asserts that the responsibility to transition from plastic ought not to rest solely on consumers but must also involve the industry. Fast Forward 50 is part of a broader movement to redefine how food and drink packaging is created, produced, and integrated into circular systems.
“The longer brands procrastinate on moving away from plastic, the more costly it becomes for the environment,” cautioned Lim. “We offer the technical expertise necessary to facilitate this switch, including infrastructure and supply chain solutions, along with free trial products. Now, we urge brands to take the next decisive step with us.”
