The plastic-free, plant based chewing gum brand, Milliways, has recently unveiled an enhanced packaging design and an updated recipe.
Driven by customer feedback, Milliways’ new pocket-friendly design takes inspiration from the pack created for Pret A Manger, renowned for its easy-to-open and resealable features. The ergonomic boxes remain fully recyclable and biodegradable, with a sustainability-focused upgrade to support the brand’s mission of reducing waste and single-use plastic consumption. The brand’s new pack recently received the prestigious Grocer’s New Product and Packaging awards, earning the title of sustainable pack of the year.
Collaborating with design agency, Analogue, Milliways developed a unique brand world on and off the pack, incorporating space-themed visuals to captivate consumers.
Moreover, Milliways’ new recipe promises longer lasting and more intense bursts of flavor, as well as an improved chewing experience across its range of Peppermint, Might Mint, Bubblemint, and Watermelon flavors.
Established in 2021, Milliways has emerged as a plastic-free, plant-powered alternative to traditional gum brands. Following a successful £3 million funding round earlier this year, the brand has been investing in product innovation and R&D to maximize the potential of its seven plant-based ingredients – a stark contrast to the 30 or so artificial and synthetic ingredients typically found in conventional plastic-based gum.
“The gum category has lacked innovation and sustainable practices for decades, neglecting consumers seeking new and exciting options, better ingredients, unique flavors, and sustainable materials. This is the driving force behind Milliways, embedded in the DNA of our brand. Our continuous efforts and pursuit towards perfection are reflected in the launch of our improved recipe and new pack design,” says Milliways’ Founder and CEO, Tom Raviv.
Milliways is the fastest growing gum brand and the best-selling plastic-free gum brand in the UK, expanding distribution to over 6,500 stores within the past 11 months and securing major listings in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Pret A Manger, and Costa, among others.
