Innovia Films has expanded its BOPP material range with the introduction of a new, thinner version called EUP50. This product complements the existing Rayoform EUP60 and aims to provide the global market with a thinner material option.
With a thickness of just 50 microns and a density of 0.55 g/cm3, EUP50 is a high yield, high opacity, and matt in-mold label (IML) film. This BOPP material adheres to the “Design for Recycling” guidelines set by RecyClass, ensuring compatibility with colored PP recycling.
“EUP50 is perfectly suited for labels used in small-to-medium sized food packaging, whether it be polypropylene or polyethylene containers,” explains Alasdair McEwen, Product Manager for Labels & Graphics at Innovia Films. He further adds, “The use of EUP50 allows for significant downgauging, eliminating the need for thicker film, while also reducing distortion in thin wall containers and lids post-molding.”
Innovia Films attributes the success of EUP50 to its advanced formulation, which ensures ink adhesion even at extremely high sheet feeding speeds. It is compatible with both UV cured and conventional offset inks, guaranteeing optimal print quality.
“At Innovia, films for IML are a vital part of our label offerings, and the introduction of EUP50 enhances our innovative portfolio of products, with more exciting additions to come,” says Lucija Kralj, Labels Business Unit Director at Innovia Films.
