Greif, a prominent leader in industrial packaging, has unveiled EnviroRAP™, a groundbreaking 100 percent recycled paperboard tailored for the food and drink packaging sector. EnviroRAP excels in resisting oil and grease, making it an ideal choice for packaging both aqueous and fatty food products. With its water-based, recyclable, and repulpable coating, EnviroRAP enhances recyclability and contributes to sustainability efforts, significantly reducing its environmental footprint.
The coating application occurs inline, streamlining the process by eliminating the need for a separate offline coating stage. This innovation not only lowers costs but also reduces transportation requirements, thereby minimizing carbon emissions.
With a versatile caliper range from .012 inches to .030 inches, EnviroRAP is well-equipped to address diverse packaging needs within the food and drink sustainable packaging industry.
“We’re delighted to launch EnviroRAP. It is a significant step forward in paper packaging and customers in the food industry, who are committed to finding sustainable alternatives to plastic, have welcomed this innovation. It not only supports their environmental goals but also responds to growing consumer demand for eco-friendly packaging. EnviroRAP is a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to traditional poly-coated paperboard, which can sometimes be more difficult to recycle due to the plastic coating,” explains Vince Fields, Product Development Manager at Greif.
“The initial concept came out of Greif’s Innovation Team which focuses on developing new technologies through collaboration with customers, and is another example of how Greif continues to lead with innovation that benefits both our planet and customers.”
Greif will debut EnviroRAP at Pack EXPO International in Chicago, IL, from Sunday, November 3 – 6th at booth W-22093.
