Sysco Acquires Scottish Meat Supplier Campbell's Prime Meat meat Food and Beverage Business

Sysco Corporation, a leader in the food and beverage industry, has completed the acquisition of Campbell’s Prime Meat, a reputable meat and fish supplier located in Scotland.

Campbell’s Prime Meat, a family-run enterprise with over a century of experience, employs approximately 325 individuals at its Linlithgow facility. The company specializes in a diverse range of products, including beef, pork, lamb, chicken, fish, game, and deli items.

Following the acquisition, Campbell’s Prime Meat will maintain its operations as a distinct entity while receiving ongoing support from Sysco. This partnership will enable Campbell’s to attract new customers, enhancing its reach in the highly competitive food and drink business.

The specifics of the financial transaction through Sysco GB remain undisclosed. In expressing his thoughts on the acquisition, Campbell’s Prime Meat CEO Christopher Campbell stated: “Sysco is the perfect partner for the next stage in Campbell’s Prime Meat development. Over the past century, we’ve worked tirelessly to build a reputation as the leading catering butcher in Scotland, and we’ve been impressed at how Sysco wants to support and encourage us to continue that journey.”

He emphasized the additional market access that Sysco provides, allowing the company to present its high-quality meat, fish, and deli products to a wider audience. Campbell expressed enthusiasm about this new phase in the company’s evolution.

Furthermore, this acquisition is anticipated to introduce “opportunities for a broader range of products for the enlarged Sysco GB group,” enhancing the overall product offerings in the foodservice sector. Sysco CEO Paul Nieduszynski remarked: “We are delighted that Campbell’s Prime Meat will be joining Sysco GB. It is a great business with a fantastic reputation for producing high-quality meat, fish, and deli items, combined with exceptional levels of service and championing independent customers in Scotland.”

He emphasized Sysco’s commitment to collaborating with quality businesses like Campbell’s Prime Meat that can increase the value of Sysco’s services to its clients. Sysco specializes in the sale, marketing, and distribution of food products to various sectors, boasting an extensive global presence with more than 76,000 employees and over 340 distribution facilities.

In the fiscal year 2024, which concluded on July 1, 2024, Sysco reported sales exceeding $78 billion. The company continued this growth into the first quarter of the fiscal year 2025, reporting sales of $20.5 billion, reflecting a 4.4% increase compared to the previous year. Additionally, Sysco’s gross profit rose by 2.9% to $3.8 billion, driven by favorable volumes and effective management of product cost inflation.
