Faerch’s CPET Trays Earn Recyclability Certification: A Step Towards Circular Food Packaging Commitment

Faerch’s CPET Trays Earn Recyclability Certification: A Step Towards Circular Food Packaging Commitment food and drink packaging, food and drink sustainable packaging, Food packaging, Recyclability Food and Beverage Business

Faerch is pleased to announce that its CPET (Crystalline PET) dual ovenable trays have received official recognition as fully recyclable by the German institute Cyclos-HTP. This institute has classified CPET as a ‘Valuable Material’ and confirmed its full compatibility with PET tray recycling systems. This achievement builds on our established history of certifications across various materials, emphasizing our commitment to enhancing recyclability and advancing circular food and drink packaging.

The independent evaluation confirmed that CPET trays can be recycled as efficiently as APET trays. Importantly, recycled PET from CPET food trays can re-enter production as a valuable material without compromising the quality or performance of new products. This milestone underscores Faerch’s dedication to showcasing that food and drink sustainable packaging can truly achieve circularity.

Extending the MAPET II Certification

Earlier this year, Faerch’s MAPET II trays were also awarded an independent recyclability certificate from Cyclos-HTP, with an impressive rating of 98–99% recyclable.

With the certification of CPET, Faerch broadens its portfolio of accredited circular materials. These certifications highlight our unwavering commitment to recyclability, enabling compliance with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations. As such, we help our customers not only meet sustainability targets but also satisfy regulatory requirements. Serving as a recognized benchmark for recyclability across Europe, these certifications ensure assurance and consistency throughout the industry.

CPET Trays: A Reliable, Circular Solution

Faerch’s CPET trays are extensively used in ready meal packaging, delivering distinct functional benefits, such as oven and microwave safety, temperature resistance, and compliance with food safety standards. The recent recyclability certification reinforces that these trays can be effectively collected, sorted, and recycled into new food packaging of the same high quality—supporting a closed-loop system that minimizes reliance on virgin resources.

A Significant Advancement in Circularity

Securing recyclability certification for CPET represents a substantial stride forward in our mission to create truly circular food and drink packaging. With both MAPET II and CPET trays accredited, Faerch is proving that packaging can fulfill the highest functional demands while remaining fully recyclable for new food and drink packaging.
