Exploring the Future of Packaging: thyssenkrupp Rasselstein Showcases Innovative Solutions at METPACK Aerosols, beverage packaging, events, food and drink packaging, food and drink sustainable packaging, Recyclability Food and Beverage Business

METPACK in Essen is once again set to be the premier gathering place for the global metal packaging industry. This year, thyssenkrupp Rasselstein, Germany’s only tinplate manufacturer, will be showcasing innovative solutions at Stand 3A31 in Hall 3. The focus will be on cutting-edge packaging steels designed to tackle the pressing challenges faced by tinplate packaging manufacturers, including enhancing efficiency and enabling thickness reductions while ensuring the integrity of cans, twist-off closures, and crown corks.

Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the latest advancements, such as the rasselstein® CUP (Cup Ultimate Performance) for aerosol can mounting cups and the next generation of D&I material, rasselstein® D&I Solid, tailored for two-piece food cans. The rasselstein® CUP blends exceptional formability with increased strength and minimized earing. Moreover, rasselstein® D&I Solid provides material savings of up to 10 percent, resulting in significant efficiency gains, making it an excellent choice for food and drink packaging.

“As the industry’s premier trade show, METPACK offers us the ideal setting to engage with our customers and present our new products and solutions,” says Clarissa Odewald, CEO of thyssenkrupp Rasselstein GmbH. “We look forward to an intensive exchange, especially against the backdrop of current challenges and opportunities.”

Introducing the New Digital Tool: The FEA-based Canculator

thyssenkrupp Rasselstein has enhanced its digital portfolio with the innovative Canculator tool, integrated within the company’s Packaging Steel App. This tool, built on finite element analysis (FEA) and a machine learning model, allows users to estimate achievable thickness reductions when utilizing the advanced packaging steel grade, rasselstein® D&I Solid, for two-piece food cans. Users can effortlessly adjust various parameters with sliders, receiving customer-specific thickness reductions in seconds. Attendees can test the Canculator at the thyssenkrupp Rasselstein booth, gaining valuable insights for future developments in the food and drink sustainable packaging sector.

Additionally, visitors can learn about other innovations, including CO2-reduced bluemint® Steel. This sustainable tinplate option represents thyssenkrupp’s commitment to reducing emissions in production processes while aiding customers in achieving their sustainability objectives.

The entire Rasselstein team eagerly anticipates productive discussions at Stand 3A31 in Hall 3 during METPACK.
