Elopak has successfully reduced its direct Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 33% compared to a 2020 baseline, as reported in the company’s annual and sustainability report. This decrease encompasses key sources of greenhouse gas emissions, including electricity usage, natural gas, and waste incineration. The achievement aligns Elopak with its goals of a 42% reduction in direct emissions by 2030 and attaining net zero emissions by 2050, in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) guidelines.

Noteworthy progress has been made in reducing emissions from Elopak’s filling machines, with a 29% decrease in 2023. Additionally, the average carbon footprint for Elopak cartons has decreased to 23.3gCO2e, down from 23.9gCO2e in 2022. Thomas Körmendi, Chief Executive of Elopak, expressed his satisfaction with these developments, emphasizing the company’s unwavering dedication to environmental, social, and ethical excellence on the path to achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
