Utilizing Conexa, Wireless Logic’s dedicated mobile network, Britvic will acquire essential telemetry data from its Aqua Libra Flavour Taps. This data will empower Britvic to create more dynamic and precise strategies for flavour distribution, thereby enhancing the adoption of its sustainable and packaging-free hydration solutions.
Britvic is well-known for its flagship brands, including Robinsons, Tango, and J2O. Furthermore, it plays a pivotal role in the production and distribution of PepsiCo’s beverage portfolio, which features popular drinks like Pepsi MAX, 7UP, and Lipton Ice Tea.
In line with its Beyond the Bottle strategy focusing on minimizing “unnecessary packaging,” Britvic has launched the Aqua Libra Flavour Tap. This innovative digital dispenser offers flavoured water as an eco-friendly alternative to single-use plastic bottles.
The dispenser features sugar-free and additive-free flavour options such as Cucumber, Mint & Lime, and Raspberry & Peach, making it a perfect fit for diverse settings, including workplaces, hospitality venues, and retail shops.
Each machine is equipped with six flavour cartridges, capable of eliminating the need for up to 10,000 single-use plastic bottles or cans before any replacements are necessary.
Moreover, the system utilizes recycled plastic in tap bases and several internal components, reinforcing the commitment to healthier and more environmentally friendly choices for consumers.
“In an environment where sustainability regulations are tightening and consumer preferences are shifting, we saw a significant opportunity to adapt and innovate,” stated Scott MacKenzie, director of Beyond the Bottle Platforms at Britvic.
“Launching our digital taps amid the challenges of the Covid pandemic was just the beginning. Now, as we look to expand, scalability and reliable connectivity are crucial. While we initially tested the waters with a Software as a Service model during our trial phase, recognizing its market potential, we needed a trusted connectivity partner to support our growth.”
Through the introduction of telemetry capabilities, Britvic transitioned to a direct connection, collecting firsthand user insights within their operational environments.
Wireless Logic ensures the secure transmission of data directly from the Flavour Taps to Britvic’s Amazon Web Services Cloud environment.
“With Wireless Logic as our connectivity provider, we have secure, reliable, and real-time access to data on flavour preferences and consumption patterns,” MacKenzie continued.
“This has already revealed unexpected trends, challenging our assumptions and informing our strategic decisions. By utilizing these insights for streamlining our forecasting and logistics, we’ve enhanced our overall agility and responsiveness. This enables us to adapt our production and flavour distribution strategies based on seasonal shifts and evolving consumer behaviours.”
Britvic chose Wireless Logic after a comprehensive market evaluation of IoT connectivity providers. Wireless Logic’s specialized IoT network, extensive global reach, and advanced management platform, SIMPro, distinguished it from competitors.
Ensuring security was a high priority for Britvic, particularly because the products are installed on-site at customer locations. Safeguarding these networks was of utmost importance.
The soft drinks leader selected Conexa due to its secure design, featuring advanced on-SIM applications and network services that enhance data security.
“It’s always inspiring to witness technology being used for a positive impact, and Britvic’s commitment to minimizing plastic waste while promoting sustainable beverage consumption exemplifies that,” remarked Oliver Tucker, founder and CEO of Wireless Logic.
“What commenced as a trial project during the pandemic has now flourished into a viable product with global potential. Opportunities extend beyond offices and retail spaces; there is significant potential to introduce Aqua Libra Flavour Taps across travel, sports, and leisure industries.”
“Conexa was created with flexibility, scalability, and user-friendliness in mind. We take pride in supporting Britvic on its mission to reshape the beverage industry with more sustainable consumer choices.”
