SÜDPACK is making significant strides in sustainable packaging with the launch of CarbonLite®, a fresh line that centers on its advanced tubular pouch films. Previously included in the premium Pure-Line collection, these innovative films are now unified under a single brand, providing the food sector with lighter, more recyclable, and efficient packaging solutions.
Created from a combination of PP and PE mono-materials, CarbonLite® films are designed to work seamlessly with both horizontal and vertical flow pack machinery. These films can be converted into various formats including flowpacks, doypacks, block-bottom pouches, and spouted pouches. Their main advantage lies in their dual capacity for material efficiency and recyclability, leading to a considerably reduced carbon footprint when compared to traditional multi-material laminates or heavier trays while also lowering disposal expenses.
For instance, a CarbonLite PurePP flowpack utilizes as much as 60% less material than a conventional tray and achieves recyclability rates of up to 92%, as verified by external evaluations. Additionally, SÜDPACK has fine-tuned film thickness for horizontal PE flowpacks without compromising barrier integrity, further decreasing material usage by another 10%.
Versatile Applications
The CarbonLite® range is crafted for adaptability. It effectively accommodates a variety of products, including cheese, baguettes, and coffee in PE flowpacks, as well as meat, snacks, and sweets in PP formats. These films can also be molded into sturdy block-bottom coffee pouches or handy spouted containers for purées and liquids.
Regardless of the intended use, the films ensure finely calibrated barrier properties that provide dependable defense against oxygen and moisture. Optional anti-fog capabilities improve product visibility, and strong sealing performance ensures reliability on high-speed packaging lines, even with the integration of zippers, valves, or spouts made from the same mono-materials.
Commitment to Beyond Carbon Footprint
SÜDPACK’s dedication to sustainability goes further than just material sourcing. Through its SPQ printing technology, the company is able to minimize ink and solvent usage while offering vibrant, high-quality visuals. Clients also gain from SÜDPACK’s EcoTrace™ life cycle assessment service, which delivers comprehensive insights into the environmental impacts of various packaging designs, allowing brands to make well-informed decisions.
Acknowledged as a Platinum-rated organization by EcoVadis in 2025 and validated by the SBTi for its ambitious CO₂ reduction objectives, SÜDPACK remains at the forefront of packaging innovation and corporate responsibility.
With CarbonLite®, the message is unmistakable: reduced CO₂, enhanced performance, and a forward-thinking solution for food packaging.
