Amcor, a global leader in developing and producing responsible packaging solutions, is pleased to announce the North American launch of curbside-recyclable AmFiber™ Performance Paper packaging. This innovative solution is part of Amcor’s AmFiber portfolio and has been prequalified by How2Recycle®. Performance Paper meets the repulpability standards for curbside recycling, enabling brands to offer consumers more sustainable end-of-life outcomes for their packaging.

With paper-based packaging alternatives, brands can leverage cutting-edge technologies to provide the right barrier, shelf-life, and machine performance that suit their specific product and brand requirements. Paper-based solutions are particularly appealing to consumers as they align with their preference for a natural look and feel, while also supporting widespread curbside paper collection and recycling.

According to Brian Carvill, Vice President of Research and Development at Amcor Flexibles North America, “Brands now have more choices than ever when it comes to packaging their products in formats and materials that attract consumers and meet their sustainability goals, while still achieving the operational performance they require. Amcor Performance Paper, part of the AmFiber portfolio, along with our dedicated research and development team, can make the conversion from plastic to paper effortless and advantageous.”

AmFiber Performance Paper is a high-barrier laminated paper that is recyclable in most paper recycling streams. It has earned the “widely recyclable” prequalification from How2Recycle®, further validating its recyclability. Notably, it offers improved barrier and packer efficiency compared to existing coated papers and is free of PVdC. Ilya Syshchikov, Vice President Global Product Management AmFiber, highlights the value of this validation, stating that it “should help consumers easily recycle packaging made of AmFiber Performance Paper through curbside paper recycling.”

Amcor’s product portfolio includes a wide range of options suitable for confectionery, bars, cookies, cereals, dry beverages, and dry mixes. Its format applications, including cold-seal flow wrap and three-side seal sachets, are ideal for various packaging needs. Importantly, AmFiber Performance Paper can be processed using existing flexible packaging equipment, achieving machine speeds comparable to plastic-based packaging.

In addition to the North American launch, Amcor’s AmFiber portfolio caters to multiple markets, spanning dairy, produce, meat, poultry, seafood, ready meals, lawn and garden, and personal care.
