Amcor, a global packaging company, has stepped up its game by expanding its high-performing paper packaging range and investing in increased paper packaging manufacturing capacity in Europe. The company is proud to announce the expansion of its AmFiber Performance Paper packaging range in Europe, which now includes heat-seal sachets for dry culinary and beverage applications, such as instant coffee, drink powders, spices, seasonings, and dried soups.
AmFiber Performance Paper is a recyclable, high barrier, paper-based packaging that was initially introduced in 2022 for snacks and confectionery. The packaging range offers high-barrier protection against oxygen and moisture, which makes it perfect for food packaging. The company has further expanded its application to new product categories and responded to growing demand for this type of packaging by investing in manufacturing capacity. At its Amcor Flexibles Alzira plant in Spain, the company has installed state-of-the-art production lines to provide both cold- and heat-seal AmFiber packaging.
The advanced equipment and the plant’s team’s extensive experience in barrier technology, printing, and sealing processes make it one of Amcor’s Centers of Excellence for flexible paper-based packaging. The company intends to make AmFiber Performance Paper available to more brands across multiple segments, emphasizing its commitment to developing recyclable paper packaging.
Ilya Syshchikov, Vice President, Global Product Management AmFiber, said, “AmFiber Performance Paper offers brands the best of both worlds. From a technical point of view, it delivers high barrier and excellent machinability, and from an environmental point of view, it’s PVDC-free, available in FSC-certified paper and recyclable in most European countries. In fact, independent recycling tests conducted by organizations such as Aticelca and PTS have demonstrated an impressive material recovery rate during the recycling process.”
With many exciting projects in the R&D pipeline for paper, Amcor is dedicated to developing recyclable paper packaging for all the segments it serves.
In conclusion, Amcor’s expansion of its high-performing paper packaging range and investment in manufacturing capacity have positioned the company at the forefront of the packaging industry. The introduction of AmFiber Performance Paper packaging range for food packaging with excellent barrier protection against oxygen and moisture is a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to developing green packaging. Going forward, Amcor is committed to developing and making recyclable paper packaging readily available for all product segments.
