Alupro has officially launched its Christmas 2024 campaign, titled Santa’s Little Recyclers. This initiative aims to assist local authorities in elevating recycling rates, particularly for food and drink packaging. The program encourages households to recycle a variety of aluminium items, including mince pie cases, drink cans, wrapping foil, chocolate wrappers, empty aerosols, and metal closures from bottles.
During the festive season, UK households generate millions of tonnes of packaging waste. Since aluminium can be recycled repeatedly, residents have a valuable opportunity to contribute to a more sustainable and circular economy by following best practices during one of the peak consumption periods of the year.
To enhance recycling efforts, Alupro has developed a comprehensive suite of resources tailored for local authorities. This includes an engaging animation alongside static images designed for use on social media and in local advertising campaigns. Furthermore, the campaign benefits from radio advertising on Heart Christmas, as well as print placements in Delicious and Sainsbury’s Magazine throughout December.
“We’re keen to support local authorities and work together to boost recycling rates,” said Tom Giddings, executive director of Alupro. “The festive season is an ideal time to spread awareness about recycling as those Christmas treats increase the amount of aluminium packaging in the house.”
“We hope to encourage UK households to take the time to sort and separate. After all, by making small changes, we can all enjoy a more sustainable Christmas.”
