The ready-to-drink cocktail sector in the UK is welcoming a new luxurious addition with the debut of The Naked Margarita, which features an ultra-premium bottled margarita and an upcoming collection of craft canned cocktails inspired by the rich traditions of Jalisco, Mexico.
In a strategic move to position itself above mainstream RTD offerings, The Naked Margarita seeks to establish its presence within the luxury hosting segment.
This brand has been co-created by the husband-and-wife duo, Lydia Ward and Chris Pratt. Their mission is to produce a margarita that celebrates authentic tequila craftsmanship rather than overshadowing it. Their experiences at a family farm in Jalisco, where tequila production has been honed over four generations, provided the inspiration for their brand philosophy: utilizing 100% agave, avoiding shortcuts, and refusing to compromise on quality.
To mark its launch, the brand presents a 700ml sharing bottle containing seven 100ml servings of its Classic Margarita, which boasts an ABV of 10.1%. Priced at £49, the bottle comes elegantly packaged in a sculptural agave-fan gift box, featuring high-end touches such as a glass stopper, embossed detailing, a textured neck strap, and a finely carved punt designed to catch the light.
The formulation of the margarita is intentionally simple, comprising ultra-premium 100% agave tequila and balanced citrus flavors, with no extraneous ingredients. This yields a bar-quality margarita that is effortlessly ready to serve while still embracing the traditional cocktail experience.
Moreover, the brand’s commitment to sustainability is reflected in the design of the bottle, which is intended for reuse. The Naked Margarita offers an online program that allows consumers to transform the bottle into stylish glassware, aligning with the founders’ dedication to thoughtful design and waste reduction without compromising on luxury.
Lydia Ward, the founder and CEO, stated: “We didn’t set out to create just another ready-to-drink cocktail — we wanted to create a margarita worthy of the tequila inside. After travelling through Jalisco and seeing the incredible care, heritage and craftsmanship behind authentic tequila, we were inspired to create a brand that honoured those traditions while elevating the category.”
Ward noted that the team dedicated four years to crafting their own tequila and meticulously refining every aspect of the recipe, packaging, and overall experience to produce something “beautifully simple” for enhanced hosting occasions.
This summer, The Naked Margarita will roll out a 125ml canned collection, expanding the brand further while maintaining the same premium cocktail experience in a convenient format. The cans will showcase vibrant striped designs that reflect the organized rows of blue agave found on the founders’ farm in Jalisco.
The collection will include:
– Classic Margarita (10.1% ABV)
– Verde (10.1% ABV), infused with jalapeño
– Rosalita (10.1% ABV), infused with strawberry and black pepper
– Non-Alcoholic Margarita, infused with L-theanine and magnesium
The alcoholic variants will retail at £4.45, while the non-alcoholic option will be priced at £3.95. The cans are digitally printed directly onto aluminum to eliminate plastic packaging and enhance recyclability. Additionally, 24-can Social Packs will be available online for entertaining.
The product line is tailored for contemporary hosts who appreciate bar-quality cocktails without additional preparation, luxury consumers who prioritize craftsmanship, design, and heritage, as well as tequila aficionados seeking authentic RTD options, not to mention summer socializers looking for premium portable cocktails.
