Parkside has joined forces with the artisanal crisp maker Two Farmers to introduce a fully compostable packaging solution for their newly launched Herefordshire Sauce flavor. This collaboration utilizes Parkside’s innovative Park2Nature technology, offering a sustainable alternative to conventional multi-layer plastic crisp packaging. This product launch enhances the Two Farmers assortment and furthers their commitment to utilizing “100% compostable packaging” for their premium hand-cooked snacks.

Snack brands face the persistent challenge of preserving product freshness without resorting to non-recyclable aluminum or plastic films. Parkside’s packaging solution addresses this need by providing essential oxygen and moisture barriers, ensuring that the crisps maintain their crunchiness and shelf stability.

Given that these new packs are certified for home composting, they effectively tackle the issue of waste generated by on-the-go snacking. Paul Lenihan, sales account manager at Parkside, noted, “Small packaging items, like these snack packs, are particularly suited to our range of compostable solutions because they are too small to recycle but perfect for the home compost bin.”

The Herefordshire Sauce flavor highlights locally sourced ingredients, with packaging that embodies the brand’s field-to-fork philosophy. By employing vibrant, fully printable compostable film, Two Farmers preserves a premium presentation on store shelves while reinforcing their environmental commitments.

Sean Mason, co-founder of Two Farmers, remarked: “We have worked with Parkside for several years now, and they share our passion for finding sustainable solutions to the plastic problem.”

The Park2Nature series is designed to decompose in a home compost heap, returning nutrients to the soil instead of contributing to landfill waste or ocean pollution. This vision aligns with the founders’ original goal of safeguarding the Herefordshire countryside.

For brands, this advancement translates into several key benefits:
– Improved barrier performance: Compostable films now match the protective attributes of traditional plastics.
– Consumer alignment: Connects with the rising demographic of eco-aware snack consumers.
– Waste reduction: Provides a practical end-of-life solution for small-format flexible packaging that often faces rejection from recycling facilities.

The successful collaboration between Parkside and Two Farmers marks a significant transition from a disposable mindset toward a circular economy. As an increasing number of brands aim to eliminate plastic, high-performance compostable laminates are emerging as the new standard for specialty food and beverage producers.
